FAQ

  • WHO IS ONLINE THERAPY A GOOD CHOICE FOR?
Online therapy, or telehealth, can be a great choice for many people and for many reasons! The reasons often range from added convenience and ease of scheduling, to increased confidentiality, to anxiety about starting the therapy process. It allows you to access therapy from the comfort of your own space without the hassle of driving to an office, dealing with traffic and parking, presenting to a receptionist, sitting in a waiting room, and trying to open up about your personal experience in a less than personal setting. WHO IS ONLINE THERAPY NOT A GOOD CHOICE FOR? Online therapy might not be a good fit for you if you prefer in-person services, if you don’t have access to reliable internet or a safe, secure space to participate in sessions, or if you’re actively in a crisis situation and need more intensive, acute treatment such as inpatient services.
  • DO YOU ACCEPT INSURANCE?
DMV Wellness Center, LLC is currently in network with Cigna, Carefirst (Blue Cross Blue Shield), and Johns Hopkins. We also take United Healthcare but we are considered Out of Network. Please reach out to us to inquire if we are in-network with your specific health insurance plan prior to scheduling your first session if you plan to use health insurance benefits. We can also assist you in verifying your coverage and any associated costs (copay or deductible) with your plan. The self-pay rate is $180 for an intake and $150 per session thereafter. Couples Therapy is a self-pay service. For the initial and follow up sessions, it will be $200.
  • HOW DO I PAY FOR SERVICES?
You have options! If you would like to seek reimbursement from your health insurance through out of network benefits, I will provide you with what is known as a “superbill” (essentially a detailed receipt) to submit to your insurance company. You will still be required to pay for services at the time of service, but may be eligible to receive some or all of that amount back from your insurance company. We do accept HSA, credit, or debit as payment and are in-network with some insurance plans, as discussed above.
  • HOW LONG WILL I BE IN THERAPY?
This depends entirely on you. Maybe you just want to get a few ideas on extra coping skills to use to manage stress more effectively. Great, one or two sessions might be plenty for that! Or, maybe you have a long history of painful, traumatic experiences you’ve survived and you want to spend time deep diving into those and unpacking years and years worth of heaviness you’re tired of carrying. We can absolutely do that- and it’s going to take some time to wade through it together.
  • HOW DOES CONFIDENTIALITY WORK?
Your right to privacy is one of my absolute top priorities. You own every piece of your story and you should be the one to decide if, how, when, and to whom it’s shared. In addition, you have a legal right to privacy of your health information and that includes mental health treatment. The only exceptions to this are as follows: if you share that you are going to hurt yourself or someone else, if you tell me about child abuse or elder abuse, or if a judge orders that some of your information is released for court. Even in these situations, I will do my best to maintain as much privacy and confidentiality as possible within the requirements of that situation. ANY other disclosure of your information will require your written consent including detailed information on what is to be shared and to whom.
